Shawn Leary

Well, it’s February in New England again, A month of groundhogs, love, my mother’s birthday, and (arguably) the most important annual sports game of the year. That’s right folks, the Superbowl, this year it’s sure to be a heated match as the New York Giants line up against the New England Patriots. These two teams create a good rivalry on the east coast to begin with, however, this year it is especially heated since these two teams met in the Superbowl back in 2008. After a 17-14 win over the Patriots in 2008, the Giants are looking to uphold their personal bragging rights, as well as achieve another ring. Tom Brady and the Patriots look to acquire their first ring since the Dynasty years of 2002, 2004, and 2005. If you’ll be watching for halftime show and/or the commercials, Madonna will be performing with Cirque du Soleil for the halftime show, and hopefully it will be better than last year’s (in my opinion) awful performance by the Black Eyed Peas and Slash. The commercials look to be promising; Doritos is holding a competition, Wheat Thins using a popular TV show, and Direct TV has its odd sequential life lessons.  So if you’re staying with us during the Superbowl, be sure to grab a cold one, relax in our lounge, and watch the game on our flat screen TV.

OR if you're interested going out, The Beacon Cinema in Pittsfield has a free showing of the game:
