Thursday Evening Shenanigans- Berkshire County Night Life

Last week I found myself reconnecting with an old acquaintance. Last Monday our conversations lead us to talking about things we’ve never done but have always wanted to try. One of those topics was karaoke. So I did some research on a few places in the area that offer karaoke, picked a place and decided to make plans. We grabbed some Sushi at Fin’s in Lenox and then walked over to Rumpy’s Tavern at the Village Inn just down the street. 
Being a big sushi fan, I can say dinner was good. I’ve been lucky to have eaten at some other worldly sushi restaurants, so the bar was set high for Fin’s. I wasn’t exactly blown away by the menu selection, but the food tasted great and both the service and atmosphere were excellent.
However, since neither of us had been to Rumpy’s we had no idea what was in store. We were, however, very glad in our choice of post-meal entertainment. We both loved the entire atmosphere. It was very warm and welcoming with the staff and regulars very friendly and outgoing. I also loved the décor and especially the lava lamps!
The karaoke itself was also great! The DJ had a massive binder filled with song selections. If you couldn’t find a minimum of 12 songs you’d love to sing, then karaoke might not be for you. So my friend sang and thoroughly embarrassed ourselves, most likely due to nerves. After mingling in the smokers’ area and getting in the proper, relaxed frame of mind, we headed back in, refilled our drinks (liquid courage) and finalized our choice of songs. That is until we heard the regulars belting out tunes! Those folks effectively made us stick with dancing and singing along instead of actually getting up and singing. There’s no way we could complete with them! Either way, my friend and I had a blast. We will definitely be returning for more Thursday night karaoke fun in the future.
