Lacrosse Season

Shawn Leary

Though winter didn’t amount to much, and it feels like spring has been going on for quite some time now, there was something missing.

To me, the arrival of spring means one thing, lacrosse. I played lacrosse for 10 years, was the assistant coach for a few youth teams, and am currently a referee. If you’re in the area staying the night to avoid the long drive home after a game, I would be glad to give you directions to any of the fields around. If you weren’t originally staying for lacrosse, but would like to see a game, I know where to find the schedules and locations of all CYC Youth Lacrosse games, and could most likely get the schedule for high school games in the area as well.

So if you’re a lacrosse fan or you would like to find out more about the sport, talk to me at the front desk about it. I would be glad to discuss strategies, rules, and the ever-elusive ground ball drill. If you are a coach, and know a ground ball drill that effectively simulates an in-game situation, I would be glad to hear about it. It seems like everything I’ve tried ends up being based on a player’s overall speed, and cannot accurately depict a game situation. Anyway, if you like lacrosse, talk to me and I’ll set you up with what you need to fill that gap that has been missing all winter.
