Many guests come to us at the front desk here at the Yankee asking for a place to get a great meal along with a great beer. Many of us recommend to head north to go to The Old Forge, but what about heading the opposite direction? If you are interested in checking out Great Barrington, which is about a twenty to thirty minute drive from us here in Lenox, then I would recommend trying Barrington Brewery. It is a casual dining experience located on 420 Stockbridge Road, (Route 7) in the Jennifer House Commons. Opened in 1995 Barrington Brewery has been serving and pleasing their guests since 1977.

They have been successfully reviewed by some of the top magazines and newspapers, such as the Boston Globe and New York Times. The type of food they have is truly unique in that they offer seafood, great meats, sandwiches, and pasta. My favorite thing to get when I go there to eat is to start of with their famous cheddar ale soup. I love anything cheesy and soup with a rich cheddar taste and a hint of that strong ale taste is just amazing. The burgers are delicious and also healthy. The meat that they use is grass fed, antibiotic and hormone free. If you are not interested in the standard burger and beer, which on sundays they offer on special for just $10, they also offer great prime rib dinners, New England seafood dinners, beef brisket, or BBQ dishes. The solar –brewed beers that they offer and brew on sight are Berkshire Blonde which is the lightest they offer, Black Bear Stout which is black and creamy with a rich roasted flavor, Ice Glen IPA, which is bold India pale ale with a balanced hop and malt finish, and many, many more. If you want to impress your own guests at home they also offer bottles, growlers and kegs to take purchase and enjoy at home. In the summer, Barrington Brewery has their outdoor beer garden where you can sit outside and enjoy the weather with your unique ice cold beer and excellent food.
