Restaurant Advice: Bob’s Country Kitchen

I write a lot about restaurants.  My tendencies for the restaurants I visit are one’s that are more upper class.  I love seeing local ingredients as well as very unique menu items.  However, don’t mistake me as a food snob.  I have an affinity to seek out establishments that offer comfort food.  Sometimes you want to pass over the roasted duck breast with marinated kumquats in favor of food that reminds you of dinner at home when you were a child.

In my opinion, the best comfort food around is at Bob's Country Kitchen on route 7 in Lanesboro.  They’re open daily from 6:30 AM until 8:00 PM.  One of my favorite things about Bob’s is the fact they serve breakfast all day every day.  Those mid afternoon cravings for bacon and eggs, an omelet or pancakes can be alleviated with a trip to Bob’s.  It’s one of the few places in Berkshire County that servea breakfast all day.  I think their veggie omelet is top notch, as well as their homemade home fries.  My grandmother is a big fan of their pancakes.

However, they do have a great selection of non-breakfast foods.  Bob’s is mostly known for their foot long hot dog.  They have options available to add on chili, sauerkraut or cheese as well.  Many of my friends’ favorites from Bob’s include their homemade meatloaf, kielbasa, fish & chips, chuckwagon casserole and their hamburgers.  One of my friends used to rave about how good their kielbasa is.  Their menu pricing is also very comfortable on your wallet.

So when you’re staying with us at the Yankee Inn and you want a quick, inexpensive meal take the trip to Lanesboro and stop at Bob’s.  It’s worth the 15 minute drive.  They offer daily specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Sometimes, when you’re on vacation, you just want some simple food that reminds you of home.  Bob’s will remind you of home and then some.
