To me there is nothing more beautiful and artistic then watching professional dancers at their best. Jacob’s Pillow Jacob's Dance is lauded worldwide as a "hub and mecca of dancing" (TIME Magazine), "one of America's most precious cultural assets" (Mikhail Baryshnikov), and "the dance center of the nation" (The New York Times). The goal of JPD is to get the public and their audiences to appreciate and engage in the support for dance. Each festival season hosts some of the best emerging artists in collaborations with composers of music and visual art in creating over 160 performances presented each summer.

This year is the 80th Anniversary Festival, with a full schedule of fresh new performances, exhibits, tours and events which makes for a great experience for all ages. The season starts June 16th and runs through August 28th and tickets are available online at their website, https://tickets.jacobspillow.org or by phone at 413-243-0745. Although the shows are ticketed JPD also offers free shows during the festival season every Wednesday through Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
The dance performances include all different varieties from ballet, to jazz/musical theatre, hip-hop, flamenco, traditional Korean dance, India’s bharata natyam, and many other genres. To me it’s as if your sitting outside somewhere comparable to Tanglewood, on a beautiful summer day watching amazing dancers perform for you right on an outside stage. Jacob’s Pillow Dance is truly an amazing concept and an all around great place to experience in the Berkshires.
